    The bones of humans, like all animals, do break down over millions of years... quicker if underwater, due to corrosion and/or pressure. The only way bones could be preserved indefinitely is by fossilisation, and that would leave the shape of the bone, but not the bone itself.

    Human bones are pretty much the same in composition as the bones of other species whose bones are incredibly hard to find. I'm not an expert, so please could somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but if bones didn't decompose the earth would be completely full of them.. too full of them.
