I'm 14 and only one of my parents will sign a passport and I want to go to Spain this spring with my school. Is there any way I can do it with one parent's signature. My parents are divorced, by the way.

  1. They don't sign the passport - only the passport application. You sign your own passport.

For minors under age 16, both parents are required unless one has sole legal custody. They also both must appear together to sign the application. If they cannot appear together, the parent going with you to the passport office must have a NOTARIZED statement from the other parent.

  2. I have just got my new passport throught and i am 17 so no parents needed to sign mine, my brother and sister are 13 and 14, and like yours, my parents are also divourced. Only my mom had to sign them, as long as one of your legal guardians signitures are there, it is ok. If you still arnt sure ring the passport help line that is on the application fourms, but i asure you you will only need one of them to sign... our passports only came a few weeks ago so it will be the same.

  3. If you are American, both parents must sign unless one parent has proof of sole legal and physical custody.  They also must both sign a letter of permission for you to leave the country.
