  1. braces hurt in the begining.  After you get your braces on you should really eat soft food. After getting your braces your gums will be really soft and brittle. Medication wise I only took a Motrin but my friends sometimes take Advil.... GOOD LUCK WITH THE BRACES!!!!

  2. i dont know what these pussys are takling about but i dont think that they hurt

they hurt for the first day but not after thattttt

just go to the right ortho

eat ice cream! it makes em feel better :)

  3. I don't know but I asked 10 of my friends that have braces. They say it doesn't hurt but its kind of hard to take the food stuck on your brace when you eat.

  4. I think it hurts for a couple of days and feels uncomfy until you get used to it. I haven't had any but friends all agree that it is extremely weird.

You may suffer from headaches or be unable to eat but i don't think it is painful unless something goes wrong.

I feel sorry for you, good luck!

  5. Okay, you have nothing to worry about! When I was getting my braces, everybody was telling me all these horror stories about how painful it was, but honestly it's fine. It doesn't hurt when you get the brace put on. The worst part is when the brace starts to tighten, and then it's really more of an ache than a pain, and you can take paracetamol for that if it really bothers you. Your orthodontist should explain everything to you. You can eat most things really, just like no chewing gum or sticky stuff like toffee, but I think that's just common sense. Everything will be fine. lol Good luck!

  6. they hurt fo a couple days after you get them on. When you get them on, if they hurt really bad, take tylenol or Advil for it. You could get some Orajel or anbesol and put it on your gums, that will numb it. You could also hold ice to your teeth, and if they hurt really bad, only eat soft foods for a couple days. I know what it feels like, and it stinks i know. But it will all pay off in the end. The pain will subside in about 2-3 days. Good luck.

  7. i have braces and the first few days after getting them my teeth were sore so have some soft foods ready but after a few days it will go away.

  8. oh man.

i had them not that long ago

    its worth it

    SERIOUSLY

1 week and mine were straight!!

year and a half later they were off!

    still straight now.

    :D

they didnt hurt when they wre first put on... afterwards i was annoyed cause it hurt a bit for a  while.

you can still eat most things.. as long as it doesnt put too much pressure on your teeth... such as apples NO

Then afetr a few days it will get better and then you'll be fine until you need to go and get the wire changed which tightens them ALOT and i always found this hurt alot more than getting them actually on.

Medication-wise.... ummm painkillers? im not much of a chemist.

just expect to be absolutlely covered in the white gluey stuff which is a right pain in the **** to get off your lips/face.

my friends lip bled from her peeling it off. but dont worry about that.

dont worry about it at all actually!!

    enjoy!

oh by the way all this is about train tracks so hopefully thats what your getting cause otherwise iv just wasted all this time!!

if your from the UK get some sleep too!! its almost 1!!

    cya!x

  9. Braces do hurt, yes, but there are things that help.

Soft foods, like mashed potatoes, are very helpful during the first few days. If you need really fast relief on your gums, Anbesol works really well until you can get to some Advil or Tylenol (advil - ibuprofen - worked better for me).

Ice cream (or soy, rice, whatever) is very soothing, as are cold smoothies and popsicles. Anything cold will feel pretty darn good.

It's sort of a dull ache, like pressure and a sort of bruise-like pain, but it is tolerable. Some people get headaches, what with their teeth moving around and all, but I personally just felt a nagging pressure (my teeth weren't too bad, but the braces were covered by health care...).

Doing something to take your mind off of it, like a sport, will work very well. Careful not to take a ball to the face, though, because your braces can sort of tear up your mouth. And never bite into apples, just cut them up, unless you feel like picking at your braces forever trying to get apple chunks out ;)

  10. Rule #1  Take 2 advil 30 minutes before EACH appointment.

Rule #2  Some days will be better than others.

Rule #3  You will have some pain after each appointment but it won't last long (advil is your best friend)

Rule #4  Keep wax handy!  Your Ortho will give you wax, if not you can find it at Walmart with the dental floss.  Wax is your 2nd best friend.

Expect a long visit tomorrow when you get your braces on.

Your ortho should give you a list of dos and dont's.  Just don't eat anything hard that will break the wire or break a bracket off.

Popcorn, gum, corn on the cob was top of things on my list from the Ortho.

Good luck and have fun with colors when it's time!

  11. when you get them on they dont hurt cause all you they do is put glue on and then put the bracket on. after a day it will hurt bad for like 4 days so you cant eat hard things. youll get used to it after a while though. but everythime they tighten it it will hurt again.

  12. hey..its not really that painful..i have braces too for about a year now..well, at first you need to adjust especially when your dentist just adjusted..its really difficult to chew for a few days ... but im sure you would get used to it..there's no really medication for the pain..because the pain is tolerable...

  13. When they put your braces on, they don't hurt. Only when they put the color on or something. But just a little bit! The glue smells really bad though! I held my breath through most of it. Hahah.

    Good luck. ;]]

It will hurt a lot for the first day and might feel like they are scratching your mouth but you will get better in like 2 or 3 days.

  14. When I got my braces, it didn't really hurt when they put them on. It's just afterwards when everything has been tightened and all. So I suggest you eat something really good before getting them on lol. They say you're not supposed to eat ice, chew gum, hard candy, stuff like that. If the pain becomes unbearable, just take some aspirin or Tylenol.

    Hope this helped. :]

  15. Why would you be exicted lol? Okay anyway, yeah they can hurt for a few days, but then you get used to it!

  16. I am getting braces in the next few weeks and I have been reading ALOT about them. It seems its not going to be the most comfortable thing but its not going to kill us with pain. After having them put on and after each adjustment the pain is going to be strongest for the first few days then it calms down. Warm foods or cool foods will help (depends on the individual) as well as normal over the counter pain killers (but nothing with asprin as Ive heard this can actually stop teeth from moving which is obviously not helpful). Also a gum numbing gel looks like a good option. Also things calle d'bite wafers'.

As long as you brush after every meal and dont eat anything sticky or hard, I reckon the 20 odd montsh we will wear our braces will be worth it. Goodluck :)

  17. It didn't so much "hurt" for me but rather uncomfortable.  You'll get use to it then you won't even notice them, food will be an issue at time but nothing really significant.  You'll be happy with the results when you get them removed though.  It also takes a little gettin use to when making out too but other than than you'll be alright.  Now I'm blingin all day with a pearly picture perfect grill!

  18. They ache for a little while after gettin them put on, you may not be able to chew hard food for a few days but the pain soon goes away. You can take ibuprofen and paracetamol. Your dentist will probably tell you not to eat sticky/ hard sweets like toffee, listen to him. I had braces once and I ate a maoam bar and i clean broke one of the fixed parts off my, which resulted in the wire coming out. lol.

They only hurt whenever you get them tightened and they might feel funny when you first have them on. Once you get used to it u wont even notice them. Its kind of weird to see your teeth straightening up.
