Question:

Do brakes cause traffic jams?

On my daily 2 hour commute, I've noticed that brakelights appear just before nearly all traffic jams.

Why are cars equipped with them, if this is the case?

Who benefits or profits from sitting in traffic?

Should there be a Blue Ribbon Congressional investigation in this matter?

  1. No, too many people driving causes traffic jams.  Brakes cause there to be fewer accidents than there would be without them.

No one benefits from sitting in traffic.  Absolutely no one.

Sure, let's have another Blue Ribbon Congressional investigation, we don't spend enough of our tax dollars on stupid projects yet.

  2. Is this a joke or are you serious?

People brake because there are cars in front of them.  If cars didn't have brakes, they wouldn't be able to stop, so they'd have to keep going, and there would be no traffic jam.  Is that what you're saying?

  3. Yes.  It takes less time to stop a car as opposed to getting a car up to speed.  So, it becomes a domino-effect as people step on their brakes to slow down and this causes a ripple effect down the line and creates a traffic jam.

  4. It really only the cell-phone using steriod injecting commuters that cause the brake induced traffic jams.

Yes, Congress should talk about the impact of brakes on traffic jams as well as the UFO cover-up and who is buried in Grant's tomb.
