  1. Absolutely.  If you wanted to buy them as a favor then you can do that.  But generally the wedding party pays for their own attire.  Then at the rehearsal dinner its traditional for you to give them a gift for all of the time and money they have spent to be in the wedding.

  2. yep. well mine sure are.

  3. Bridesmaids paying for their dress seems to be the norm in the continental US. It does differ due to culture though. In Hawaii, the bride usually pays for the bridesmaids dress and accessories.

  4. yep they do pay for their own

  5. Unfortunately, yes, unless the bride has offered to pay for it.  It is a primary reason why I have always turned down the 'honor' of being a bridesmaid or MOH.  I'm not having any attendants at my wedding.

  6. they should pay for their own. Sometimes they aren't able to, in that case you should pay. But typically, they pay for their own.

  7. I had just one bridesmaid which was my sister and I paid for her dress. but usually its decided between you and them really

  8. Usually yes but if you want a bridesmaid who might not be able to afford it you can pay for hers. My sister in law paid for everyone`s so she would have what she wanted and avoid the hassle. She had lots of sisters plus nieces and nephews thus a huge wedding party. In that case the couple simply paid for everyones clothes --even tuxes.

My bridesmaids paid for their own dresses and men wore their own dark suits to my wedding.

Usually bridesmaids pay for their own but the bride needs to consider their needs and not choose something really expensive or that will look horrible on them if she is going to have them buy their own.

  9. Generally speaking....they pay for their own dress. Sometimes, if the bride is feeling generous, she will pay for it. Hope that helps!

  10. i've had to everytime....and i wasn't in a position to pay for my dress and theirs when i was married....

  11. I am not having my wedding party pay for anything if they want to chip in they can feel free but I wouldn't want them to have to..  My brother got married about a year ago, I had to pay for my dress and two other tuxedo's.  there is no way I am making them pay for all that.. After all you are the one getting married, why should they have to pay for you to get married?

  12. if there mates they should at least offer

  13. Usually the bridesmaids and the MOH pay for their own dresses - but every situation is different.

For instance, my bridesmaid and MOH were having a hard time financially. I didn't want to put that extra burden on them, and I certainly wanted them to be in my wedding, so I paid for the dresses myself.

It's really up to your discretion - but most of the time the responsibility does fall on the bridal party.
