Do bumble bees sting?

I've heard they sting and I've heard they don't so do they????

Bumblebees can sting, at least the queens and workers can, and their sting is not barbed like that of the honeybee.

Male bumblebees cannot sting.

Yes they sting.  And no they don't die after.  That's only honey bees.

yes they do and there sting are worse then any other bees becuz they are fat and need more then other bees.

When I was young and really stupid, I tried to get stung by one and succeeded.  It is extremely hard to get stung by one because they are not aggressive.

When i was stung It didn't hurt that much at all, it mostly itched.  felt more like a harmless spiders bite.

Do you mean the fuzzy rounded yellow and black ones?  Yes, but only if we (inadvertently or otherwise) annoy them.  (They will generally mind their own business.)  

When I was about 8 years old, I was walking on a trail (between the road and a marsh) to gather some plants and take them to the car, and I got stung by one.  I had walked probably 4 round trips, ignoring the bumble bee that was working on ground-level plants.  

The next time I walked past, I felt a jab in my right foot just below the ankle, and it was this bee.  I guess he was just plain annoyed at people walking past him repeatedly.  

My dad said that the bee would die shortly, as he lost his stinger from stinging my foot.  

As for me, I had a swelled and rather sore right foot for a few days, but put cold packs on it and took some aspirin to help it simmer down.

My understanding is that the smaller honeybees also die if they sting someone, again because they lose their stinger.
