Do buspar and xanax do the same thing?

both are used to treat GAD or general anxiety disorder. There are both supposed to be wqually effective, so the real choice comes down to side effects nad which ones you tolerate the best. Buspar is a non Benzo, so in theory it should be easier to quit. Xanax is the hardest of the Benzos to quit taking. There is a great website called Crazymeds.us. It covers most of the different meds that are prescribed for GAD. Check it out. I go to it whenever my Doc tries to give me a new drug. Good luck
