Do butterflies/caterpillars mate as caterpillars or butterflies?

    they're not adults until they are in that state so they couldn't mate while caterpillars.

  4. caterpillars are immature. Butterflies do the mating. The brain of a butterfly is about the size of a pinpoint. So they don't have very complicated love affairs.
