Do cable modems have any effect internet speed? I am getting cox high speed, any modem suggestions?

I will be ordering cox high speed internet with 15mpbs. I need to buy a cable modem and this is their compatibility list.

  1. Actually they are all pretty good.  What you want to do is change some of the registry to allow the browser to load quicker, there is a little program that does it to.  it works perfect you will notice a great difference in speed after you reboot.  It is called TCP Optimizer: http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php . Note: when you run the program go to advanced settings and make sure that LAN Browsing Speed is on default though, not optimize.


  2. They all do what they're supposed to.

    I use the Motorola SB5100- and it works great.  Had it for I believe 2 years now, on Comcast.  Haven't had any problems.

    I believe the Linksys' are pretty good too.

  3. its the service that determins your speed your internet provider can tell you  what modems work well with their service
