Do cacti use special soil or dirt?

i have a cactus and i dont think it has enough dirt, soil etc. what should i do?

  1. They are very hardy, so just put more soil (enough to cover the roots) and water. They don't require anything special.


  2. All a cactus needs is deep dirt and *sand (*for good drainage). Let it dry out and keep it from the cold. Cacti are southwest desert plants and used to long periods of heat and drought, though they DO require moisture. I don't know where you live. This can make a heap of difference in the care that your cactus will need. How big is the cactus? What do you have it planted in? I'll be happy to help you -----just need more info.   3. In a Lowe's in Florida I have seen potting soil especially for cacti.  I don't quite understand why cuz cactus won't grow  around here.  But if it this helps, yes, you can buy a special potting soil.
