so i googled this , and i have always beleived that calorie counting is a complete joke. well maybe not COMPLETLEY but 95%. so everyone says coount calories and burn more to lose weight eat more to gain weight. i googled this and came up with an article that stated calorie counting is innificient and a waste of time. because it is impossible to determine the energy needs and chemical reactions that go through the human body. it stated that calories "burn" differentrly in a calorimeter, than in the body, like fat, has a 9.25 kilocalorie rating or something. but taht doesnt mean your body gets 9.25 calories to use up for energy, because a lot of the fat turns into some chemical that gets urinated out. and that proteing is purly used for repair and growth, like muscle tissue, nails, skin etc. and the rest is pooped out. so if anythin that protein calories should be subtracted from the calorie count.anyways, so if anyone is an self proclaimed expert , can u answer me this. if all i ever eat is veggies and fresh fruit, like 4000 calories worth sopposidly, and i dont workout, and supposidly use 2000 calories a day, am i going to get fat and gain weight off of my completly fresh veggie/fruit diet? and maybe some fish :) and i forgot what it said about carbs

  1. Your "burning different in a calorimeter" refers to the fact that the human body is not 100% efficient in converting food into usable energy. That's how the rest of the universe works, as well. Peoples' metabolisms differ, so your results may vary. Calories are a rough guideline. You must also know how your body works.

  2. hmm i have no idea

    but all i know

is if you eat 2000 calories of fruits and veggies and fish

you will not gain any weight

but i had this article which was like the 10 truths about calorie counting

i'll try to find it in a sec

but it was like dont be stupid and think you can eat 500 of junky foods and it would be the same if you ate 500 calories of fruits or something healthy

i forgot how exactly it said it

but i know it said it in a smarter way

btw i didnt read every lil word in your lil essay

so im not sure what your asking

  3. yes

but it also depends on the quality of the calories

    calories from fat are bad

you need to get all your sources of nutrition though

    protein, carbs, vitamins, minerals, ...

  4. If you had a perfect digestive tract and your body only burned the average, say 1,500 cals naturally, you would be fat as h**l: even if it was just vegetables, fruit, and fish.  My guess, though, is that you would get severe diarrhea and your  stomach/intestines would only take in a fraction of those 5,000 cals.

  5. Calories play a little role. Nutrients and fats play more of a role. There are good fats and bad fats for your body. For example, take 100 Calorie Pack's. The average consumer thinks: "Oh boy! My favorite snack, but healthy!"

But, you are still eating a bag of rubbish. Read the nutrients and information. You're better off avoiding the little money grabbers diet fad and buying carrot sticks or almonds.

  6. Yeah its pretty obvious that anything that tells you how many calories your body is burning is just an estimate. And on top of that estimate you have the difference with your body type and how much water you drink. However, if you track your calories you intake and how many you "are burning," you can increase the burn number, and decrease your intake. The numbers might not be right, but it gives you a good idea on how much you take in and burn to have the weight your at, and what you need to do to change it. Its a reference really.

  7. yea the more you eat the faater you get
