  1. Yes.  If you do a lot of driving, then that is a lot of TIME that you and the vehicle are on the road.

If you state up front that you intend to drive a small amount, then the rate goes down.

Most of the time, they do not check up on what you actually drive.

  2. They used to ask me how far I drove to work.  Classic car insurance of some kinds has a mileage limit and the fee is more if you go over the limit.

It isn't smart to lie because if you have an accident, the agent will check your odometer and if it is much higher than you claimed, poor you.  They may cancel and not pay because of fraud.

  3. They ask you that, but they don't actually check on it.

  4. No.

All they really need is the VIN number.

  5. If you don't have full coverage, then most of them wont actually come out and look. I have never had one actually come out to the car and look at it on any that werent fully covered. BUT if you do get into an accident then they can fine you or even refuse to pay ANY coverage because it is considered FRAUD. If you are still doing that, be carefull with it because they have the right to inspect your car at any time while they are covering it. Even if it is just liability insurance. Theres always that first time.

    I've had good results here...

    Good Luck.

  6. The further you are driving on a regular basis, the more chance there may be for an accident to happen. I think the insurance companies do ask what your typical travel patterns are to determine how often you will be at risk of having an accident. A friend of mine has really cheap insurance rates because he only drives like two miles down the road to get to work and that's about the only place he drives regularly enough to count.

Just as the insurance companies ask whether you wear your seatbelt, the mileage question supposedly has something to do with your riskiness as a driver. If you wear your seatbelt all the time, then there is a lesser chance to have severe injuries in case of an accident.

  7. I have been insured for 50 years and they have never checked the miles I drive each year.

  8. When I bought my car (brand new), I was told by my company to come by to get the mileage inspected (about 2 month later).

But when I got my second car, I never got that notice.

    Good Luck....
