Do car sub woofers damage hearing?

I want to install some bigger subs in my car so i can like shake the car... Is it ear damaging to do this?

8 hours per day at 90 dB will cause damage

2 hrs per day at 100 dB will cause damage

30 minutes at 110 dB ditto

3 minutes at 130 dB ditto

140 dB is instant damage.

difficult to relate the sound in your car to these levels without a sound level meter.

140 db's is not instantly damaging, other wise I should be deaf, seeing how I am in the Navy with an aviation rated job. I should be deaf like 50 X over by now, since jets produce over 140 db's i.e.. F-14 Tomcat.  

But none the less it will damage your hearing, instantly though, no. Hearing damage take time to happen, nothing is instantly going to happen like that.

Listening to anything at over 100 decibels for an extended period of time is generally considered to be damaging. Any subwoofer can produce these conditions.

If you don;t want to damage your hearing, you could always wear ear plugs.
