Question:

Do career counselors at meps (ARMY) care about getting you in as much as recruiters do?

I recently renegotiated my contract and ship this week, I did not get airborne in my contract but was told it was easy to get it while in osut (Infantry), I am planning on talking to a career counselor on my ship day (soonest I can get in) but because it is already a renegotiated contract and I ship that day I really have no leverage other than dropping out all together, I'm worried that if I ask about dropping out then they will call my bluff, will the career counselor do everything they can to help me? I just want them to try.

  1. he will do what he can.  i also could not get airborne and never did get it. with the war going on it is hard to get slots because we don't actually use airborne anymore.  they have not dropped in a long time, they are only qualified to do it.

  2. It depends what kind of person the classifier is, if he/she cares then yes he/she will do what he/she can for you like the recruiter.

But if the classifier doesn't care than no.

Also, I think it will be difficult right now for you to crosstrain into Airborne. Why not drop out, switch over to Navy and go for SEALS. You are guaranteed that for sure.

    Good luck.
