I mean is since so many places in the west are so far away from each other, does that mean someone living in New Mexico say would end up putting on more miles on their car than someone who lives in or around Boston as such?

  1. nope not at all since gas prices are the same around the usa texas is alot closer than boston is if that is your question

  2. Yes, you are correct.  I think some people are misinterpreting your question as asking about fuel economy rather than actual miles.  The eastern part of the US is more densely populated than the west, so people tend to drive less.  Commute distances are shorter and friends and shopping are closer.  This is, of course, a generalization and not necessarily valid for a specific person, but rather on average.

  3. Well, one thing about cars in Phoenix, AZ - we get no snow. They don't put junk on the roads to deal with snow. So a 10-year old car is often just fine. Earlier this year I sold my 99 Corvette, to get an SUV. But that was because I want to go offroad, rather than the vehicle being too old.

Another thing about AZ. It is a few big cities with not much between. So unless I go to another city, most of my journey's are just across the city. Of course, that means a 70-mile round trip commute, without leaving the city.

  4. of course they get less miles per gallon. to many lights over population causing massive traffic and very few open highways. texas has much more longer open roads and so does almost anywhere outside ny. thats why ny is known for stop and go traffic.

  5. it comes down to what your city is if you do more stop and go driving than freeway , theres some change due to air density but by sea level elevation you get better performance but tis nothing compared to city-highway driving diff.
