Question:

Do cats and hedgehogs get along?

i have 2 cats and I'm looking into getting a hedgehog. me cats are nice but curious and i wouldn't let the hedgehog rome around freely. but I'm not sure if they would mix.

  1. Hedgehogs and cats can co-exist peacefully if the proper precaution are taken. Make sure you can get a cage that closes and preferably latches or even locks so that a curious kitty cat cannot open up the top to say hi.

    You also want to make sure that the bars of the cage are close together and small enough that a paw cannot reach through. Probably the best thing you can do is to put the hedgehog's cage in a closed room where the cats can not go. Even if the cats can't get into the cage, the hedgehog will become very stressed from being monitored by a cat all day.

    If you want to let the hedgehog out for some free roaming time, just leave the door to their room closed and supervise them.
