Do cats know they're cats?

If my house cat (that doesn't mingle with other cats usually) saw another cat outside, would it know that they are the same animal?

Can they identify with their own kind?

I ask because another cat walked up to our (see through) door once and my cat was there... I don't remember what happened.

  1. Dude, that's like asking if a blonde Thinks their smart. Obvious answer.

  2. Yes! A cat would know what a  cat is if a cat can flip over when its about to fall... COMMEN SENCE PEOPLE!!! Its their instinct, dont you think dogs know what a dog is? Other wise this world would be all wrong! Now imagine if humans didnt know what humans were then they would mate with elephants and tigers and so on and so fourth! So the cats just follow their instict and their scents( im sure cats have a way to call us humans like 2 leggeds) so if they can smell they can tell! ;D oh yeah as always
