Question:

Do cats make good pets?

I'm worried that cats will be boring for my kids and will hide all the time.Also i read that at a certain age cats get the desire to make love and will cry until you let them out to mate.What can I do to stop this if it's true?

  1. well u just need to find a cat that is intergetic and playful but not too much or it can get out of hand. plus u dont want to get a real crazy one because it might scare or hurt the kids. but yes cats r great pets! well when u first get the pet all u have to do is get it sprayed and neutered. then it wont get the desire to make love and it just wont i guess. im not sure exactly how it works but it does. o i almost forgot to add dont get a little tiny kitten u should get one thats maybe like 1-2 years old so that its not too young where its harder for them to obey u but their not that old to where they dont want to play as much. u can also declaw them so that they cannot hurt the children but i believe that u should not do that to cats because wat if someone took off ur nails i dont think u would like that. well i hope this works and if u decide not to get a kitten definitely get a puppy!

  4. they are great pets but don't play after they are adults to stop them mating spay or neuter them but if you want a pet for children to play with cats aren't very playful you should get a dog hope i helped

  5. Bring your kids to the local shelter so they can pick out a cat they like (and a cat that likes them!). After a day or two of adjusting to the house the cat/kitten will begin to develop a concept of "their" house and whatever shyness toward your family you see should disappear. Neuter or Spay your cat or kitten as soon as possible - if it's a shelter cat this should already be done unless they're too young for the procedure - to prevent mating urges. Also, if male cats aren't neutered before an appropriate age, they sometimes begin spraying and this habit isn't breakable even after neutering. Also, it's a misconception that cats don't like people. They're rather sociable and often 'talk to' and follow their owners from room to room to keep an eye on them. Cats don't require as much maintenance as a dog, nor as much training or time, and therefore make a good pet for kids.

  7. You have to neuter the male and spay the female ( depends on which on you get). Do not let your cat out it can be dangerous especially if the cat isn't neutered or spayed. It will cause more kittens that will have to live out in the streets.

    I have 3 cats and 2 that I'm fostering and from my opinion cats make great pets. Don't get a cat if you won't care for it, like calling them "boring" cats aren't toys they are a big responsibility. They need a lot of care and attention.

    DO NOT DE-CLAW YOUR CAT!

    It's cruel and causes a lot of pain for the cat.

    they arent too rough but de-clawing them will make them perfect for your kids.

    its best to get the cats when they are still kittens.


  9. I've had an indoor cat since I was 9, since he was a kitty. He'd been neutered and that should help with the "urge" you're talking about. It's also best to get a pet before they're adult so they would adjust to your living environment. So far as I can recall, plenty of kids love cats. My eldest brother has four kids and had a cat they love.


  10. cats and kids tend not to get along. cats like to sleep, kids want to play.

    cats "have a desire to make love" starting at about 6 months old. females howl and roll around, every male in town comes running and fight with each other under your window at 2 am.

    males spray a musk that stinks so bad you will pray for death if they ever spray in your house.

    get them fixed. problem solved.
