My cat had a litter 4 yrs ago, in the litter there was a grey queen, the last few days there has been a grey cat hanging around my house when i try to shoo it from my garden it just sits there or walks towards me, we still have the mother cat living with us, all the litter went to homes far away from where we live I think the closest was about 10 miles away.

Could this cat be one of my cats litter.

  1. No. Cats aren't salmon or even migratory.

  2. Yes, it could because she or he may want to be with it's mom again because it is scared. I am an expert of cats because i've had them my whole life.

  3. no

  4. Hi Jimmy,  It could be, I've seen it happen before.  Please feed him and get him to the shelter or maybe you could keep him.

I once had a kitten left in my yard by a very young sick and frail mother, she just aboned him looked at me and cried and left never seen her again.

For years after that, the kitten/ cat would go down the street to an unlived in house and sit/sleep, behind the shed, right up until he finally died, I think it may have been where he was  born and he was waiting for his mama.

I do believe animals/cats do love there family's like us.  Please take care of him and at least try to find his owners.  Thanks

  5. Well typically they can make it back to their home. Say you got a cat as a kitten then when it was a 10 year old cat you moved like 100 miles away and took it with you it might return to your old house.

Same goes if you gave the cat to someone 100 miles away they might find it soon goes missing and he/she's back on your doorstep weeks later meowing.

  6. Can't you do DNA-testing? It would be really interesting! I've had cats all my life, but never really believed that they make their way back to where they were born. When I was a little girl and my cat had kittens and the kittens had to be given away, I used to wish it were true, i.e that they will come back! My grandmother used to say to prevent cats going back to their birthplace, you must put butter underneath their paws - they will l**k it and know they will get food where they are, and stay.

But, I think, after I read your case, and after about 20 years, I can believe it.

  7. all the kittens we had never came back.

she would not recognise her mother

  8. No, you are thinking of salmon.
