  1. It seems to vary with the individual cat.

  2. When my cats see themselves in the mirror they kind of just stand there like wtf?!?! I know some cats freak out and hiss and spit at themselves in the mirror, I guess that some are smarter them others though, so it depends on the cat.

  3. my 14 year old all black cat midnight just hisses at her reflection lol so id say no i got 3 c ats mines a not even year old kitten all black soo cute but a pain in my body god she hurts me alot

  4. mine doesnt, but he has seen me in the mirror, and gotten confused lol

  5. Well, yeah. For example, my cat would look, hiss and if there's no reaction, he'll just walk away. Cats are really intelligent animals.

  6. It really depends on the cat. One of my cat doesnt even acknowledge that theres a mirror image of himself. He sniffs the glass, then completely ignores it. My other cat freaks out when I have a mirror on the ground, and pounces at it, pins his ears and such.

  7. my cat looks then must realize its not another cat and jut walks away.

  8. Biologically speaking... its similar human. Some cats are smarter to recognize themselves than the other.

It all depend on the cat.

  9. I've tried to get a reaction from my cat but I fail every time. Sometimes when a new mirror is "discovered" by a mature cat, it starts to raise a paw in defense. When it sees the image do exactly the same thing, it knows it is a reflection and walks away. It reacts quite differently when another cat is on the other side of a window. Maybe cats have more recognition of "self" than we recognize.
