I have a cat who has gray/blueish eyes. Some people have been telling me that cats with blue eyes eventually go blind.

Is this true?

  1. White cats with blue eyes have a predisposition (or higher degree for) going deaf.  And I've never heard of blue eyed cats being prone to blindness.

  2. I hope not I have a beautiful cat with bright blue eyes and can see very well and hear, she is about 6 years old so I am not going to worry about that.

  3. no

  4. No more often than green or amber - eyed cats. They are prone to deafness, especially if they are solid white. I have a white, blue - eyed cat that is deaf, and a bi color with blue eyes who's hearing is fine. They both have normal vision.

  5. no. i have two cats with blue eyes and they are almost 12 and can see better then me!

  6. I've had blue eyed cats and they lived to long ages without going blind.  I think someone gave you mis-information.

  7. I HAVE HAD BLUE EYED CATS FOR YEARS.

Siamese have blue eyes.... if it is a mixed breed then it probably is part siamese.

I have had blue eyed dogs, kids, grand kids....etc.. it's just a color.

They don't go blind... it's just a color!

  8. Actually I've heard that white cats with blue eyes are deaf but I've never heard anything about just the eye color.
