  1. All puppies start with a puppy coat that changes several times as the dog matures - the old coat sheds and is replaced over time.  Cavalier's feathering doesn't fully come in until about age 18 months to 2 years.  The same goes for golden retrievers.

  2. At the age of 8 weeks the Cavalier will have long, curly, fluffy hair. Then at about 4 months of age the hair will blow out and will appear to look shaved. They will begin to get the feathering on their front and back legs and chest at about 8 months of age. Their hair takes forever to grow in. Can take up to 3 years for their coat to grow in completely. You will notice that you'll think the hair is finished growing in at the age of one or two then suddenly just before their 3rd birthday the hair will suddenly get really long and will grow in within a few months.

  3. No. They're hair never stops growing.. and they malt more in summer when its hot rather than in winter..

  4. YES!!!  I have an 8 month old Cavalier, and a couple months ago she started shedding her puppy hair like crazy!  It was everywhere!!!
