  1. They are usually just given roles for box-office success.

  2. Usually celebrities have projects developed for them or are asked to sign on to a project by the producers, etc. because of their name recognition.

    A celebrity might be asked to audition if it's for the type of role they don't usually do (like if a TV celebrity wants to be in a big movie, or a comedic actor wants to be cast in a serious role). Sometimes the celebrity's agent or their own ego stops them from agreeing to an audition. In that case, the producers can do one of the following:

    1) Lose interest and move on to another celebrity;

    2) Offer them the role anyway and see if they take it; or

    3) Set up a meeting with the celebrity (instead of an audition) to see if it's a good fit.

  3. Well, they can audition if they are not chosen. Many celebs are paid to do the movie.Only big name celebs get paid, if the celeb is not asked and wants to be in the movie they would have to submit a resume and audition. Basically if they aren't chosen, they can audition.
