I have heard before, that certains states have cheaper prices on cars compared the other states....like MI was suppose to have the cheaper cars at one time....or like Florida had cheaper prices on darker cars (due to the fact the paint doesnt last)...is there any truth to these things....and if so is there somewhere that has this info?

  1. It's all about demand.

The MSRP is just a suggestion.  The dealership can charge whatever they want for a car.  I remember a few years ago when my buddy worked for Toyota. He said if we were to buy a Prius in Minnesota and ship it to California and sell it, we could make $3000 profit, easy.

  2. In the greater 48 all cars cost exact the same even the freight, it is ghosted so that a dealer in Michigan does not have an advantage over a dealer in southern  California. Or with the Mexican plants Texas dealers having cheaper vehicles than Washington or Maine.

Markets may push a type of car or truck higher in one part of the country than the other and therefore higher priced, but that shifts.
