ok so you have three levels.....

tesco value vodka - discount

smirnoff - midrange

grey goose - premium

the grey goose would be the best here...but when it comes to cheap or mid range spirits...i always find the cheap tesco stuff nicer than smirnoff?....absolut is another midrange, but i like absolut, maybe its just smirnoff that is not nice??

anyone here prefer cheap vodka such as tesco vodka over smirnoff?

money being no object, if i had choice of the two brands, i would pick tesco. is that weird??

  1. Um I would prefer Smirnoff I don't know why it just tastes better

  2. Cheap liquor is ONLY good if that's all you can afford. When i have cash, I buy the $30 bottle Grey Goose, when I'm limited or don't want to give it up, I buy Sky or something cheaper. It depends on my budget that week! Pricey is always better in liquor. Like I bought Patron for $40 a bottle the other day, but I've had the cheap, regular brand Tequila - no comparison! But I'd drink cheap if that's all I had..hehe!

  3. i think smirnoff is pretty nasty.

i hate value vodka like glenns and vodkat that stuff is awful, never tried tescos.

absolut is probably the nicest of them all.

  4. I usually drink Finlandia (Now!). When I was back in college, and pretty poor, i learned a nifty trick. If you have a Brita filter (w/ a new filter), you can buy well vodka (the cheap kind) and filter it thru the Brita filter. You need to do this three times (at the minimum). I also places fresh fruit in the Britta to make it taste better. I know this sounds weird but it filters some of the impurities out of the vodka.

  5. DO I GET ANYMORE CHOICES ..NO OK I GUESS NEITHER ONE,,NASTY ON BOTH.

  6. I have to say that I like Smirnoff, it's just rather strong!

  7. Drink what you have a taste for. Cheap booze gives me a killer hangover.

  8. Cheap liquors are just bad for you they have more impurity's than other mid-range brands, hence why they call the cheap stuff "rot gut" If you have the extra couple of dollars i would spring for the mid priced bottle. No reason to mess up you liver sooner and on cheap tasting drinks.

  9. A lot of people just don't like smirnoff.  Try finding another brand that's about the same price as the smirnoff and see if you don't like it more.

OTOH, it could just be that unflavored vodka is just ethanol and water, and paying more for it is just plain dumb.

  10. they both taste the same to me, so would probably go for the cheaper bottle
