  1. If you're talking about chigger bites, yes, they do.

Sometimes the chigger stays in the bite. If you can see a dark speck in the middle of the inflamed area, cover it in clear nail polish. (not all over the area, just over the speck). That will suffocate the chigger. It will then die and fall off. The bite should be much better in a day or two, and clear up within a week or so.

If it doesn't get better in a week or so, and you can't see a dark speck or any reason for the raised welt/bump to be there, you might want to see a doctor. Particularly if the area hurts instead of itching.

Chigger bites are a little painful, but mostly they itch like crazy. If it's really painful but not very itchy, I doubt it's a chigger bite.

I hope that helps! Chiggers are nasty critters. S'why I like suffocating them with nail polish. ;)

  2. Chiggers normally bite in multiple areas. The bite or bites themselves can last anywhere from three days to a week depending on your scratching. To also add, the bite itself will itch the entire time. I've found relief using either dove bar soap but prefer

the dial soap for faster healing.
