What if your child rejects opinion courses and only wants to know science (facts only, no opinion) ?

the children in my friends family only want to learn facts (science).

they argue if you try to indoctrinate them with opinion.

they say that opinion is up for debate and they don't feel like wasting time learning things that are not fact.

is this something commonly found among children these days ? i find that very interesting for little childrent to say. maybe, they are a lot smarter then my generation !!!

they realized that opinions are pointless and cause to many problems.

  1. Kids need to learn how to form their own opinions.   My computer can memorize facts and does so quite well.

A human being needs to be able to think.  To take those facts and use them.

Forming opinions and beliefs leads to forming hypotheses which leads to discovery.   You ARE a combination of your opinions and beliefs.  Being exposed to other opinions helps us form our own.

I fear that all of the emphasis put on high stakes testing is causing us to raise a generation of memorizers with no interest in discovering new facts...

  2. Smart kids!  But no, I doubt that's typical.  Too many people are trying to add opinion to education for me to expect kids to realize the difference between fact and opinion these days - heck, I know a lot of adults who can't seem to tell the difference.  One of them is running the country.

  3. Yes that is part of being a TEAM PLAYER

It is called a Hypothesis than you put stuff to test to find out the real facts!

  4. The important thing is to know that they should shape their opinions with facts, and not the other way around.

  5. If you think science only deals with facts, then you must've have been educated in america
