Do children under the age of 16 require photo id to travel to southern ireland from the uk?

Would just a brith certificate be acceptable for children under the age of 16?

No, they'll need either to be listed on the parents passport or have a photo ID of their own - it to stop people kidnappiing/smuggling children.  You need to prove they're your own kids basically.

I didn't when i was younger, don't know if regulations have change since 9/11. 21 now so things may have changed. Contact the English embassy in Ireland or your travel company. They should be able to inform you.

Pretty sure they don't if accompanied by a parent where the child is listed on the parent's passport, but the kid should get a passport anyway
