  1. females tend to spray more especially territorial scared girls. i recently adopted one and she sprays alot however i bought another girl that doenst have any spray issues. if you can find a good breeder it might not matter the s*x because the psyche and genetics of it were cared for properly. neway a untammed male chin can be mischievious and very difficult. the best thing is to meet the chinchillas in person if he or she is curious smells you remains pretty calm then thats your chin. if they make distressing noises like high barked pitched sounds it means they are stressed and back off.  google a breeder in your area check papers for local breeders and stay away from pet store they are way over priced and usually full of genitic disorders or emotional/psychological issues from god only knows why or what happened to them.

    have fun plenty of patience

get wood from your backyard and put it in the cage make sure there is no wire on the bottom of the cage or wood shavings causes soars on their feet and and respitory problems. they're bones break oh so easily my chin lost his life on a harness leash hopping and breaking his spine cause it jerked back to hard. avoid wheels that are straight line bars....try wheels that are meant for chins specifically

  2. Temperament between either s*x is generally the same. However, two males together there will fight to establish dominance, but after that they get along just fine without any problems.

  3. The male chinchillas are way more relaxed. But you could always think of breeding them sense they are endangered. A female chinchilla can have a litter of babies every couple of months.(with a male of course) and they sell for a whole lot of money. Now that shouldn't be the only thing you look forward to, but it is a good idea. Just make sure of who you are selling them to because people make coats out of the poor things. But to answer your main question, male chinchillas are easier to handle and they are less restless.
