do cicadas sleep? Every time I come in to see the cicada that I caught

its on it back not moving and when I pick up the jar it rolls over and starts to fly!

  2. There's a lot of things we don't know about cicadas...they haven't been researched a whole lot....

    But I'm pretty sure they do NOT sleep. And I know they don't eat. They only live above ground for a couple months, so they've evolved to spend their whole time mating. Again, I'm not completely SURE they don't sleep, but since they don't eat, I'd be surprised if they slept.

    Lots of bugs "play dead". Maybe that's why it was on its back. That's interesting....
