Do coach seatings on train have a/c adapters?

Traveling by train and my kids will want to bring their gamesboys, movie dvd players and I will want charge them or connect them to work? wanted to know if coach had a/c connections. I know business class does.

  1. First of all it would be REALLY helpful if we knew:

    a) Which country you're talking about

    b) Which route you're taking within that country

    c) What service on that route

    Here are a few stabs in the dark at your location:

    1. USA - Amtrak - generally no, except perhaps Acela or the newer regional stuff

    2. UK - Cross Country and Virgin trains, YES, other companies generally no unless newer long distance stock

    Take some rechargeable batteries or try to interest them in the REAL entertainment - that outside the window.


  2. In the United States, older passenger cars might not have an electrical hookup at the seat. The chances of your seat not having an electrical outlet are less and less as cars are pulled from the line and updated, but there are still older cars rolling.

    The best thing to do is call AMTRAK at 1-800-USA-RAIL and ask them.
