Question:

Do coaches demonstrate techniques themselves?

I've never had any formal coaching, i've only ever played for fun. But what i was wandering was during practises (at the high school and college level) do basketball coaches themselvers demonstrate the techniques players should use e.g. how to shoot, dribble properly, how to do a crossover, defensive stances, how to rebound etc etc because i cant imagine somebody like say Bobby Knight or Dean Smith in the latter part of their respective careers being able to do alot of that stuff themselves.

  1. hey great question....most coaches do... but it depends on age they might do a lil dribbling n a lil sumthin but not 2 big.... most of the time coachs just say it n players kno wht they mean.... but assistant coaches are more likely to spend one on one with a couple of players n show them....even though they dont demonstrate much they still know how to do that stuff b/c inorder to be a coach one really has to start out has a great player.....Coach K(head coachof the USA Mens team)- ArmyLarry Brown- played in the nbaMichael Copper (coach of the wnba team LA Sparks)- played in the nba (Lakers)i hope i answered ur ?

  2. I take you've never heard of the term GRADUATE ASSISTANTS...

  3. Assistant coaches, use lots of film work to show fundamentals and techniques, ..They also show many of the things they are trying to stress....
