Do coaches get olympic medals too?

im sure not all of them like swimming coaches or gymnastics but most people would say a basketball or soccer coach is more important than a good player so they must deserve one but do coaches of team sports get them

Ballerchick25, Abz- Did the coaches not help the teams win their events?  Coaches do not need to compete to contribute to their teams success.  No they did not train, but there were there along side the athletes at every practice preparing them to go out and win.  They work just as hard as the athletes themselves.

No, they do not. Did you see when the USA Men's Basketball Team won gold? They put all their medals around their coach's neck for a picture because they knew he wouldn't get one.

Unfortunately head coaches do not get medals. Even though they didn't play, they still were a major part of the team winning and probably put in just as much or more preparing and helping out the athletes be successful enough to win. If you remember the shot on NBC where Coach K of the USA basketball team had the whole teams gold medals around his neck, that was because the team wanted him to know that even though he doesn't get a medal, he is still part of the team. However, I can see where giving medals to coaches would not make sense as there are so many coaches that contribute to an athletes success. For in stance there were like over ten coaches for the basketball team from assistant coaches, training staff, scouts ect.
