Do cockroaches serve a purpose?

  1. There is no "purpose" for any life forms. "Purpose" is a religious concept. Each life form struggles for existance and the one that is most successful (which cockroaches certainly are) survives for the longest time in the most places.


  2. Every organism on the Earth serves a specific purpose.  Some have been discovered such as tree bark for asprin and some have not.  Keep thinking this way and perhaps you will find a purpose for something wonderful.

  3. Most organisms don't exist to serve some sort of "purpose" that is subjectively beneficial to humans.  Plants, bacteria, animals, etc, all adapt to selective pressures, and the species that are currently extant are not extinct because they are successful in their own niche.  None of them exist for the good of another species, unless you're talking about symbiotic relationships, but that's generally not just because one species feels like being useful to another for no good reason.

    As they say, " 'the early bird gets the worm' is great for the bird, but not for the worm"
