Do college admissions officers have any interest in students with exceptional writing ability?

...as their main "hook", combined with high rank, test scores, and grades, but no significant other activities? assuming the student does utilize his/her ability by writing articles, publishing poems, etc.

  2. Of course.  If you have any awards, publications or other you should explain that in your application essay.  It definitely helps, but should not be your only "hook."
