I heard that if you are involved in extracurriculars, colleges want you to be involved for three consecutive years?

I did sports my sophomore and junior year and I'm sort of reluctant to do sports my senior year due to the fact that I'm taking 3 AP classes and need to get more involved with clubs (haven't been able to fully commit to clubs b/c of sports). Do you think it's best I take sports my senior year?

I'm hoping to get into UC's like UCSB, UCSD, etc.

  1. Yes they do. That's mainly what they look at besides grades of course.

  2. I think you should continue with the sports. UC's care about you being committed to something, not just trying everything and not sticking to them. By taking sports another year, you'll show that you are really into that extracurricular. If you just join a club your senior year, and its your first year joining, then you have nothing to show for it. You most likely won't have a top position in it.

  3. Most colleges care. They might think that you cannot be committed to anything at all. Also, if you can get a leadership position in sports, that will be even better and perhaps better than being fully committed to a club that you weren't even involved in before. However, taking on new initiatives is always good. Just don't drop something to pick up something that you may not be able to share about. Continue the sports, try to be a part of the club at other times (talk to the people in leadership positions if you can help out on weekends.) HOWEVER, drop the sports if your grades will go down.

Time management is key. You can do almost anything if you plan. I've taken 6 APs at one time.

    Good Luck!

  4. im sure as long as you get good grades it wont matter
