Question:

Do colleges look every SAT II test we take, even if it is a retake?

If i were to take the subject tests in bio again, but i do worse than i did the first time, do colleges look at the decline? people claim that i can choose which scores to send, but is this true? i cant shake off the feeling that somehow they have access to every time i take retakes. help???

  1. it depends on what type of school you are appling to.  Big schools most likely won't care... since they get so many applicants.  smaller and more competitve school will.

From what I understand, colleges SEE every score you get on all SAT related tests but may only count the ones that they need.  So if a college requires two SAT 2s they may only look at your two highest scores.  Of course, since all of your scores are available to them on your score report, just seeing your lower scores may bias them psychologically if you are similar to another applicant who is consistently good in his/her scores.

  3. According to Yale and Dartmouth and the Ivy League Schools I have called, they do see every score but will only count your highest in terms of your application. However, like other people have said a lower score would probably make them bias against you. The schools are so competitive that they may use that against you when comparing you to other students. Either way, if your score is below a 700, I would try to retake it and do better. Buy a test review book. I improved by over 100 points through using a Kaplan book. If you work hard at the book, read it cover to cover, and take the practice test, you will improve. Trust me. Anyway, good luck in your college quest.
