I'm currently a sophomore and I hate my high school. I know a few people who take online virtual school to earn their credits. I thought it was a neat concept, but the real question is.. do colleges take those credits seriously? I'm a good student when I apply myself and make very decent grades and I plan on attending college but I want to know if I could take online school. Thanks.

  1. I hope they do because that's where the majority of my classes are. I love the classes online. It was one of the best switches I've ever made. They  probably do take them seriously otherwise the online schools wouldn't stay in buisiness.

    I goto sdvirtual.com and apexvs.com (apex learning)

Technically I'm still a student at my school I just go there once a week. So since I'm a student they pay for my classes online.

  2. I'm not 100% sure about virtual school, but I can guarentee you that most colleges and universities take Homeschooling seriously...if that's any indication.

  3. They will take it seriously if you take it seriously.

That is, colleges will check out what you learned (as part of their overall assessment of you) and, if it at the appropriate level (and commensurate with your test scores), they will treat it at the same level as a brick and mortar school. If, on the other hand, you have spent your time goofing off or doing things well below grade level, they will not.

And FYI, they have to do the same thing with regular high schoolers. Not all diplomas are equal... The only difference with regular high schoolers is that they are more likely to have seen a kid from that school before and so they don't really have to look that closely at it.

  4. i do connections academy, you should definatly do it.  its like a public school at home!! im in 8th grade and its my second year doing connections academy i really benifit from it...there are also real field trips and virtual feild trips that you can go on and there really fun!!! anyway, i think you should go for it!!

p.s. its completely free, you can even apply for a free computer!!!
