Do companies pay to submit their products to magazines?

When magazines list a lot of products on a page under a title like 'Whats New!' are these products picked by the editors or are they being paid to include them?

  3. It depends on the editorial policy of the magazine. Many good publications will not muddle advertising with editorial content

    Most do not accept payment.

    But many writers are contacted by these companies informing them of their new products and giving samples to the writers for their assessment -- good or bad.

    Some magazines have strict editorial policies wherein they need to buy the product itself, and not receive them as gifts. Or if they accept new products, especially if not out yet in the market, then they need to return it

    It all boils down to the editorial policies of the magazine. If you are thinking of having your product in their pages, contact the writer or editor and ask about their policies
