Do competition dancers ever get a break?

i really want to compete with this place called project dance but i was going to hawai with my family next summer, but would it all be about dance? do they give you breaks, at any studio? how many hours a week at your studio do you have to dance to be on a jazz and tap dance team? please break it down like technique hours and team hours and stuff, please i am deciding to tryout or not!

  1. At our studio competition teams are required to take at least 3 hours of dance a week.  Each class is 1 hour long so they basically have to take at least 3 classes a week in order to be a company member.

    Other than classes they are required to be at all performances possible.......sometimes, under certain circumstances, they are excused.

    This includes, competitions, recitals, and other shows put on for the public.

    To be on a competition team takes alot of work and dedication but it's also very rewarding too!

    I would say, if your main concern about competing is whether or not your going to have free time, maybe you should really really think hard as to whether it is for you or not.
