Do computer screens really weaken your vision?

Computer screens can cause eyestrain, fatigue, and headache, which are all focusing issues.  They don't, however, affect your visual acuity.

They MIGHT; particularly if you're looking into them aLOT. Our eyes are "Designed" to be both Near AND Farsighted... If Ones eyes are only being Used in the "Nearsighted" mode, they might not work so good in the Farsighted mode anymore...- So you could become PERMANENTLY Nearsighted (& have to wear Glasses!). The BEST Plan- would be to ONLY be on the Computer a couple of Hours a day- & then go Outside & "exercise" your Eyes a bit. Too much of doing ANYTHING- is not good...  :0

first time I used computer when i was 11

i used glasses when i was 13

i left the glasses when i was 19

becouse i can not see even with them

i'm 20 now and i still can't see

i had so many deseases like 'Keratoconus' and 'optic neuritis'

my parent's keep saying it's becouse the computer screen

but maybe it's not :(

I still have so much time watchin it

After a few years of computer use, my Dad had to get glasses. Since then he has gotten laser eye surgery. This was caused by computer use. I have unfortunately followed in his foot steps. I have been using computers heavily since I was about 13 or 14. I am now 17 and I have recently noticed that my long distance vision sucks. Its too much focusing on something close in front of you.

It seems like they do.  Look away on and off and focus on something far away.  It's not good to keep them in one spot.  Make sure your blink and drink water, this helps them not become dry.

Yes.

It's too much Eye Stimuli. It can also cause headaches, as you may also know. I have been using the computer since the early age of 7.. at 13 I got my glasses and at 19, I am still wearing glasses. Too much of a good thing don't you think?
