  1. Condoms are about 98% effective. As for not being able to get birth control, have you spoken to your parents? They can go with you to your doctor to discuss further and get you what you need. If you're afraid, you can go to any planned parenthood and they are very helpful and friendly.

  2. If you are having s*x there is HIGH risk of getting pregnant...end of story.   Stop having s*x and you won't have to worry about it.

  3. If you use a -latex- condom, then you have about a 95% chance of guarding yourself from getting pregnant if you use it every time.

And you actually can get birth control pills. Since you're underage, you would have to go to a free clinic. They'll give you the birth control pills AND they won't tell your parents, even if they strongly suggest you do.

Condoms to help prevent STDs, though. I have to say that the only way you can be 100% sure you won't end up pregnant is to not have s*x at all.

  4. if used correctly they can b pretty effective. no std protection tho.

  5. they are for protecting againest pregnancy to, they are 97% effective agaisnt pregnancy. dont worry.

  6. Yes they are effective but you can still get pregnant if it breaks. I recommend going to the planned parenthood center in your area no one needs to know and it is usually a free clinic they will give you more detailed instructions.

  7. no they can magically stop all bodly fluids except sperm

seriously please think your questions through before you ask !!

btw yes they do stop pregnancy when used correctly

the poeple on here who say they dont work clearly havent used the properly

  8. well its better to use a condom that not one at all, but you can still get pregnant on a rare basis.  so no it's not a high risk.

  9. they sure do

  10. Condoms are not 100% safe, but 99.99999999% safe.  Abstinence is best for you as you are only 15.  Wait.

  11. If your 15 you shouldn't need condoms and no to avoid pregnancy use a condom and birth control

  12. nothing is a 100% unless one of you is "fixed"

The only thing that has the best results is birth control and condoms together,

and if you aren't willing to go on birth control,

    then don't have s*x yet.

  13. Condoms don't prevent pregnancy 100%.

Abstinence is the best way to be, especially at your age.

  14. no 100% affective but effective

  15. Yes, condoms break and even if they don't they are about 80% effective.

  16. If you can't understand how a condom works, then maybe you shouldn't have s*x at all.

  17. Am i bein stupid or is birth control the same as avoiding pregnancy? =S

But neway they have lyk a 90-sumit% prevention rate or sumit like that..so it's quite high!

  18. i think the statistics of condoms actually working is highly exaggerated.. most of the pregnant teens on yahoo had a condom fail. i know 3 women who were on birth control AND used a condom and they are now proud moms. please show yourself respect and don't have s*x. wait until a man comes and sweeps you off your feet and marries you.

    1. you won't get pregnant

2 you won't lose your virginity (something you can't get back- you only lose it once.. then it's gone..).

    3. it will be with one person you want to spend the rest of your life with, which makes it more special.

    4. you don't have anything to prove to anyone. s*x is supposed to be a private thing between a married man and woman. it's not something to broadcast so that your "friends" will accept you.

please take this advise into consideration.

    steph

  19. Oh honey.  Did you try planned parenthood?  I dont think your age should matter there?  Or talk to your dr.  They cant share info with your parents.  But honestly I would talk to your parents first.  I dont know about yours but I would gladly give my kids condoms if they came and talked to me.  There is too much more than just getting pregnant.  Condoms work.  My advice is have your own.  There are some sick people in this world that will poke holes in a condoms.  Do not trust someone else with your body.  But to answer your other question you still can end up getting pregnant but the risk is not high.  Just be careful and take care of your body cause no one else will .

  20. yes they work 99.99% of the time they can  break tho.. and try to get on birth control or take the day after pill...

  21. When used according to the directions they are 99% effective.

  22. condoms work 99.99% but 1 out of like 50 people can get preagnent for not using the condom right or it breaks.

    just use one!!

  23. IF you decide that you are mentally and emotionally ready to become sexually active, condoms are not 100% effective.  However, short of abstinence, if you have no way to get birth control, they're the best way to go to avoid pregnancy and STDs.  However, look in your area to see if there are any "planned parenthood" offices.  They often times will offer very cheap if not free birth control as well as testing, and exams, if you don't feel comfortable to go to your regular doctor regarding issues. like this.

  24. there's ways to get birth control when you are under 18, it's called a free clinic and they have to be confidential.

but yes condoms work like 95% of the time if used properly.

  25. As long as they stay in tact, they are very effective. However, condoms do have a tendency to break sometimes, in which case you are left completely vulnerable. My suggestion, if you really have to way to get on birth control pills, they do sell spermicide in little tubes similar to tampons. You inject the spermicide up inside you (just like using a tampon), and it 72-87% effective. It also provides extra lubrication, which is always good. It will NOT protect against disease though, only pregnancy.

I had a friend who could not tolerate BCP and used it in conjunction with condoms. She admitted that occasionally the condom would break, but she still has not gotten pregnant. She believes it is the added backup of the spermicide. So, you can look into that. They sell it at pharmacies just like condoms. Good luck!

  26. The only way for not having a chance of getting pregnant of course is NOT to have s*x.  However, if you are having s*x and want to be protected here are some suggestions.

Protection for everyone: The pill for the female. Condom during s*x and spermicidle foam for after s*x, this covers both partners.  Covering pregnancy and STD's. You can obtain the pill through any Planned Parenthood service and they can not tell your parents.

    Be safe!

Not getting the pill.  Then,  I would use a condom and a spermicidle foam with it.

  27. I'm so glad you've asked this question because it shows you are really thinking this through.  It's really too bad that you can't get birth control pills as well.  That would be the best and most complete prevention method you could use.

Please use the condoms.  It will help prevent pregnancy and many STD's.  Don't ever let a guy persuade you not to use a condom.  Stand up, be strong and know what you want.  If he is worth having s*x with, then he will understand.  There are probably clinics in your area which will provide free condoms.  College campuses usually give out free condoms at their g*y/L*****n.. centres and their student associations.  They usually just have them sitting out.  Go with a friend and make an adventure out of it! :-)

If you need persuasion to unwrap that condom each and every time, then search things like gonorrhea, Syphilis, and herpes in google images.  Many of these diseases will spread to the mouth and eyes too (don't worry you'll see the pics!).

    ADDED

    * Of course abstinence is the only fool proof method, but if you're going to have s*x, then have s*x safely.  It's no ones right to judge you.

    * Pulling out is NOT a reliable way to prevent pregnancy and is definitely NOT a reliable way to prevent STD's.

    * Always look at the condom after s*x.  If it is broken get to a pharmacy ASAP and get a morning after pill.  Some places you still need a prescription for it, but if you live in Ontario you can get it over the counter.  Again, this is only to prevent pregnancy.  And NO, the 72 hour pill will not cause an abortion.  It will only stop an egg and sperm from fertilizing.

  28. no there's like 15% risk of pregnancy.

  29. No condoms are a very effective use of contraception. Sometimes they can tear if they are past their sell by date so just check before you use them.

  30. If used properly, condoms are extremely effective. They're the most popular method of birth control.

  31. You can still get pregnant using a condom.  Nothing but abstinence is 100% but that's not realistic for someone who wants to have s*x.  You can get other types of birth control from the clinics that are out there (Planned parenthood for instance).  But this isn't wise because of STD's.  You should use a condom for the protection it gives you against these.  I don't know if you realize how many different STD's are out there and many of them mask their symptoms until well into the disease.  Not to mention AIDS which will kill you!  No cure remember.  Herpes has no cure but it won't kill you, just is painful and ugly to look at.  You should research STD's alittle and look at pictures of what they look like, that is enough to deter anyone for having s*x without a condom.  Oh and by the way, you can get these same STD's in your mouth when you have oral s*x.  Don't think because it's not intercourse your safe, because your not.  Many of these diseases are making a comeback and are even scarier than first time around.  Be careful! Use a condom and if you can get hold of another type of birth control as well use it.
