  1. First of all, your contact lense exam will be more expensive than the standard eyeglass exam because it will require the contact lense fitting. It ranges depending upon where you go, but it could be as much as $30 more.

To the question of whether contacts cost more than glasses, the answer is both yes and no. Take for example a box of Focus Dailies (non-reuseable) contacts which cost roughly $50 per box. Then you consider that each eye has a different prescription, so you are buying two boxes at $50 a piece and they will last you a couple months. Then you have the Night and Day contact that you can wear for 30 days straight without taking them out at $80 (roughly) per box, times two boxes and your good for a few months.

Fact of the matter is, you won't have the choice in which contacts the Doctor prescribes and you won't even know for sure if you are a candidate for contacts till the exam is nearly complete. Furthermore, you won't know if you will even enjoy wearing contact, but the important point to take from this entire answer is that you will still need a pair of glasses.

    Why?

Because if you take out your contacts night, how are you expect to see (depending upon your RX)? When your eyes are sore from getting used to wearing contacts and you have to take them off, what do you wear then? Because if you get an infection in your eye because you have dirty contact lenses or you dirty fingers got something in your eye when putting on your contacts, you won't be able to wear contacts for a week.

  2. Yah, contacts costs more because they are disposable and you have to keep buying them, I luv them though and I don't mind cause I can't wear glasses I am not used to it and its uncomfortable for me.. I wear prescription contacts, they're called Freshlook blends and comes in colors, they're abt $39.99 for 3 pairs, I usually wear them for a month each pair although my eye doctor said to change it every two weeks, I do clean and store them well. The solution costs too, the big bottle is about $7-10 bucks but now I just buy the regular drugstore brand so its cheaper i'm sureit cleans the same way. So basically it is a little bit of responsibility and money to wear contacts, my glasses only cost $99.00 and I've had it for 5 years, as oppose to contacts, I have to keep buying them..

Aks your mom if she can buy you a pack but you can alternate wearing glassess and contacts.

Good luck to you and hope this helps..

  3. I think contact lenses cost more. This is because you need supplies of lenses every time you run out. You need to constantly buy contact lenses, solution and re-wetting drops once you run out. However, glasses last much longer.

Still, much people prefer contact lenses. Its much more convenient, in my opinion, than glasses.

  4. contacts cost less

they only last for so long

  5. Depending where you are, try LASIK and get rid of the problems altogether. I had LASIK and now I don't bother with lenses or glasses, and can play any sport without any of the fuss.

If you calculate the number of contact lenses you need every year and the number of glasses and frames you need as well, the cost will reach that of LASIK in a few years. If you ive in the US, and finance is a problem, there are things like carecredit.com and similar insurance companies that can help you pay in installments.

I would advise you to go for LASIK.

Otherwise, glasses should be cheaper than lenses because with lenses you need to change the pair monthly/weekly/daily plus you have to buy the solution as well. I would prefer glasses in this case.

  6. ok quick break down on pricing.... cl exam usually cost like 75.00 to 85.00 contact lenses usually start off at like 15.00 a box (cheepest 2 week disposable)  that time 8 boxes is about 120.00 add exam so about 205.00   then you have your glasses exam about  40.00 and depending on your rx  the cheep stuff which is cr39 basic plastic  estimate like 180.00 add exam and you are looking at 220.00 so therykinda balance out..

  7. Contact lenses are cheaper than a pair of glasses.  Only because they're disposable and only last for about a month depending on how often you use it.  Overall I would have contcacts because they're not noticeable and are cheaper.  Of course in the long run, glasses would probably save you more money.
