  1. Listen to Spectacle...she is right.

And to J....of course soft lenses allow oxygen to get through.

So many people love to make claims that sound so certain about subjects they know nothing about.

  2. this happened to me!

well if your contacts are the type that stop oxygen getting to your eye (the gas perminable ones allow oxygen to get to the eye, the soft ones don't) you wont feel much changing, your eyes may feel tight but you will probably not notice as its a slow burn thing.

Over time, the veins in your eyes will appear more apparent, this is something that will get more noticable with time. Its not a good look, your eyes look pinky red from a distance, if you wear makeup, you cant get away with wearing pinks as well- or blue!

  3. Yes, normal lenses doesn't allows as much oxygen flow as compared to silicone lenses. try out the silicone lense now. it is great. there be redness in the eyes after like 10hrs of wearing the lenses

  4. When you get home from a late night and you forgot to take your contacts off. The next day you'll usually feel your eyes dry up and the contacts getting stuck even with moistures eye drop with make it hard to get it off. Sometimes you make even cut your eyes by the edge of contacts when taking out the contacts because it's too dry. This is only the physical part.

There could be also harmful germs that might even infect your eyes. The name of the condition i don't know, but I've seen it could of times and it is contagious.

  5. Different kinds of contact lenses have different amounts of oxygen that can go through your lens that your eye can use. So, it depends on the lens the amount of oxygen that gets to your cornea. For the most part, most contacts these days have very good oxygen permability. Some have more than others. Lots of things can happen if your cornea does not get enough oxygen.  Your eyes can over heat and that can cause you a lot of different problems. You can get what is called neovascularization, which are small ghost vessels that grow into your cornea to try to get blood oxygen into the cornea. You can get infections and ulcerations. There are other things that can happen as well. The biggest problem that people come up against with oxygen problems is when they over wear or sleep in lenses that are not made for that much wear or sleeping in. This deprives you of oxygen and that causes the complications. It is not the lens it's self that causes the oxygen issues, it is usually misuse of the lens. Does that make sense? I hope this helps you understand a bit better.

  6. Older style contact lenses were poorly or semi-permeable to oxygen and this damages the cornea. This was why they could only be worn for short periods. Modern lenses have become more and more efficient at allowing oxygen to pass through and can now be worn for sustained periods without damaging the eye.

  7. ur eye gets oxygen from ur blood! xx
