Do contacts make you eyes get worse faster than glasses?

okay i kno my grammer sucks fist of all. second i really need contacts because i play basketball and a whole lot of physical sports. and contacts just seem a lot easier so i dont have to worry about breaking my glasses. but my problem supposedly is that i am only 11 and the eye doctor said that vision gets worse faster if you use contacts instead of glasses so i would have to wait until i am 13. so me and my parents thought about switching eye clinics but my mom is afraid that what the doctor said is true. but i really want/need glasses so i need to find proof that they wont it they're is any so please help! but if they actually do worsen quicker with contacts tell me so i can end my hopes until i am 13......

What you really need is prescription sports goggles. It is much better protection for both your eyes and your face. Contacts are not a good option for anybody, in my opinion, because they add to the stresses that your eyes endure, especially in children and athletes.

i have never heard of anything like that... but i m no doctor. however there is no age restriction, to my knowledge, for ppl 2 wear contacts. as long as the person understabds the responsibilty that comes with wearing them... such as cleaning them, not overextending them, etc. u should b fine go for it and b happy. try the acuvue oasys

go to a diff doc, and let them kno u wanna try contacts. those sports goggles r lame
