  1. most police officers slide by most little offenses cuz other officers are friends and won't give them a record of anything

  2. It depends what the charge was and how old you were when you committed the offense. Domestic Violence is a No-No...DUI's can be overlooked if you were young and have been squeaky clean for a long period of time before applying. They'll also screen really thoroughly for alcohol dependence before deciding it was a "youthful indescretion". Typically any violent crime, even misdemeanor will get you bounced, but a lot of misdemeanors are just status offenses-consumption or possession of alcohol, that can be overlooked.

    So the answer is no, a minor criminal offense won't keep you from being a cop.

  3. quite a few have Johnny Cash albums if that's what you mean

  4. It depends on the states and department really. I have a friend who wanted to be an officer, but one nigh he went drinking and driving and got caught, bam, DUI, drivers license taken, and screwed up his record. That was it for his police future, one little mistake can blow you away.

    But no, most cops do not have criminal records. :D

  5. Texas made the news recently because they had over 300 child protection workers  with criminal backgrounds, a few for s*x crimes. Texas is infamous for taking children from their home and placing them in foster care where they are *sexually molested and murdered, CPS are the most powerful police in any state with unlimited seizure power often seizing children cause the mom smokes pot or there was no milk in the refrigerator the day they came. And of course the polygamist disgrace.

    "*2003, 30 foster children died in our state's care;

    2004, 38 foster children died;

    2005, 48 foster children died.

    number of foster children increased 24 percent

    number of deaths increased 60 percent.

    "a child is four times more likely to die in our state's foster care system,".

    100 children received treatment for poisoning from medications;

    63 foster children received medical treatment for rape that occurred while in the foster care system;

    142 children gave birth while in the state foster care system."

  6. Yes,

    some of them do.

  7. It depends on what country you are referring to. Where I live, it is very hard to enter the poilice force even with speeding fines!

  8. Every jurisdiction is different.  Some are very strict, others are not.  If you are arrested for any GM or felony level charges you are automatically disqualified.  Some misdemeanor offenses are overlooked, such as a one-time DWI or traffic offenses.   Other convictions, such as Violation of NO contact order, domestic assault, etc, are automatic DQ also.

  9. Nope... An officer cannot have anything in which would be heard in a criminal court or booked into jail for. Even officers with DUI's are not able to be hired. Civil court is a different story but as far as a criminal record goes, good luck getting hired if you have anything. It's a standard that America's law enforcement holds.

  10. In NSW, Australia Yes they can. They will be hired and even can be charged and still be employed.

  11. k... NOOO! everyone here is stupid unless they know the answer is NO! you can NOT be a cop with a criminal record...

  12. It is possible to get hired as a Police Officer if you have been convicted of a minor crime (like under age possession).  If you have a felony, been charged with a domestic violence crime, or other violent crimes and serious misdemeanors then no way.  It will also depend on the agency that is doing the hiring and the State Standards.

    Most of us have clean records.  I do own several Johnny Cash albums and have one speeding ticket from 1989.

  13. I am an ex embezzler, theif & conspirator & the L.A.P.D. took me just as long as you dont have any felony convictions they will hire you.
