Most cops are basically people with low self worth, who went into that field to feel power over other people.

This isnt true in NYC where the cop job has such good benefits that it attracts lazy people too

It's a job where we see the worst every single day.  We never get calls about how something good has just happened to someone, we always get calls about something bad that has happened.

In return for not so great pay, maybe decent benefits and the dislike of the same people that ridicule us one day and then call us for help the next, we put a target on our back everytime we put on a uniform, and live in glass houses where people scrutinize our every move, on or off duty.

Why do we do it?  Because we DO have a heart and soul and want to try to help people.

P.S. -you complain about that traffic ticket right up until the time we DONT run traffic, and someone runs a stop sign and kills a 6 yr old child.

Hmmm this might be one of those "dont touch wet paint" exercises to see who falls for it. So many replies for such an obvious attempt to get peoples blood pressure up. Because there isnt any way someone with a brain would think that the police are heartless.

just remember that the cop you hate so much has a wife and children at home who love him very dearly.

and that it doesn't matter how much everyone hates him becuase he's still willing to sacrifice his life for you.

Actually we are robotic androids who stare at the world through coal black eyes looking for those who brashly violate the law.  We observe, we beat into submission, we arrest and we take the scum of society off the streets.  Sadly, we are often overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of the job, but we persevere because we know in our cold hearts that without us society will become even more hellish than it already is.  Pray for us but don't cry; we know full well what our destiny is.

I think they have big hearts, they protect us from people who cheat, lie and steal, people who have no consideration for the well-being of others. It's the criminals who have no hearts or souls!
