  2. CPAs and other tax preparers have a duty to try to minimize your taxes.  If they took kickbacks, they would be violating their ethical obligations to their clients.  And the government person or agency that paid the kickback would be committing a crime.

No.  The government doesn't give kickbacks to CPAs.  They will give a reward to someone who turns in information about someone who is cheating on their taxes, but the CPA who prepared the tax return isn't eligible to get the reward - he would lose his CPA license and go to jail for preparing a fraudulent return.


  4. Only if you consider their fees a kickback.  In most cases they work rather hard to avoid giving the government any more money than the law requires.
