I don't know about dear whistles (mating call?) and I actually don't know about deer whistles either. It's kind of hard to know if they work or not. If you have them and never see or hit a deer, was it the whistle or were there just no deers around?

not any more. they did at first but there are so many of them now that it has just become background noise to the deer.don't rely on them

Deer whistles not only don't work as advertised, they can't work. Why? Because the standard claim by "Save-A-Deer" and other deer whistle manufactures is that the deer whistles emit an ultrasonic or high frequency sound wave that stops deer in their tracks. "Although the theory sounds good, tests show that the whistles do not work.

So the next time you think about purchasing a deer whistle, consider the quality research that has been performed by professors, universities and police forces across the country that establish that deer whistles don't work. Then compare this data to the unsupported claims made by the manufacturers and sellers of deer whistles and decide for yourself who is telling the truth before you spend your money.

They do work if they are mounted correctly.  The need to be place where they will get good air flow through them.  The best place I have found is in front of the radiator or on the outer corners of the fenders (but then they look stupid).  

Like someone else stated, they can come off in a car wash if they are put someplace where the brushes can get to them.

I have had deer standing on the shoulder of the road and the turn and look in my direction and then run the opposite way.  

Remember... they only work if they are clean... bugs have a tendency to plug them up, so don't hesitate to hose them out when you clean your car...

yes they do. i trust them 100% never had deer hits with them. when i see a deer or deers on road they run other way.

i think they work, but as someone said, was it the whistle or just no deer?  don't put your car through an automatic carwash with them on though, cuz they'll come off, at least mine did.
