Do deep barbell squats work your hamstrings?

I know they work the quads. And they're supposed to work the glutes. But do they work the hamstrings efficiently.

  1. yes, but not directly as the squat is a quad dominant exercise. to directly hit the hamstrings you need to perform some stiff legged deadlifts with either a barbell or dumbbells.

  2. YEAH REMEMBER THE SQUATS ARE A ALL LOWER BODY EXERCISE. BUT TRY TO ISOLATE THEM TO GIVE THEM MORE MASS AND DEFINITION...BUT THE SQUATS WILL PRETTY MUCH BUILD UP YOUR WHOLE LOWER BODY
